The Mater Dei Latin Mass Community is a Roman Catholic community established under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Dallas. Its purpose is to make available to the faithful the Sacraments as offered according to the liturgical books in use in 1962. Originally it was an "Indult Latin Mass" and now is an
"Extraordary Latin Mass" as defined by Papal
Documents The Mater Dei Latin Mass Community operates within the proper jurisdictional hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church. The Community does not, in any way, condone those who think that it is possible to preserve "tradition" outside of full union with Rome and the valid successor of St. Peter, Pope Benedict XVI. In July 2005, Fr. Christopher Hathaway FSSP was re-assigned by the Fraternity to Lincoln, Nebraska. The MDLMC wishes him much success and happiness. We welcome Fr. Joseph Terra FSSP as our new Chaplain. We have received many inquiries for the location of a Church (in other parts of the country) where the Latin Mass is celebrated. In the past, we answered these questions individually. We concluded that there was enough interest to maintain a web-page for Churches & Mass Times in USA and Canada. It includes all Churches and Communities served by the FSSP and those (we were able to locate) that celebrate the 1962. There is also a summary of similar Churches in other Countries We have prepared a little booklet entitled "How to Serve the Latin High Mass at Mater Dei". It shows position, movements and responses during the High Mass of the Priest, the Master of Ceremonies, the Thurifers (2), the Acolytes (2), and Torch Bearers (even number). Although the directions are unique for our space configuration, they can be easily adapted to any environment. We are willing to share this information with any other Latin Mass group for $ 5.00 (each) to cover printing, handling and shipping cost. (For details contact the webmaster.) The full contents of this booklet can also be viewed at Serving Mass (you are free to download and print a copy for your personal use). The Mater Dei Latin Mass Community wishes to thank Fr. John O'Rourke (Deceased 04/20/08) for saying the Sunday and/or weekday Latin Mass when Father was not available. Please pray for his soul. Please Keep in Your Prayers the Mater Dei Latin Mass Community members (and their friends) ,who are ill. Also please Pray for the Repose of the Souls of our friends and families. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. For all Mater Dei Pro-Life Announcements see the PRO-LIFE PAGE. |
