Hick received a BA from West Virginia Wesleayn College and Masters fr om West Virginia University. He was a WW I veteran and High School co ach.

Nancy is named in her father James Hamrick's Will book 14 pa 44-45 2 1 Sep 1825. Her mother was Catherine Stigler married 24 Mar 1803, Fre derick County, Virginia.

In 1962 while he husband was fighting in the Civil War with Union Tro ops and had attacked the area where she was living and killed neighbors and b urned their homes, she moved to Wainville, Webster, West Virginia. After 19 65 she moved to Salem, Harrison, West Virginia where she probably died.

Nancy Jane was buried in Hollin Branch Cemetery, Clay Co KY !Mae Lunsford Smith, Grand-niece of Nancy Jane wrote the following t o me: Nancy Jane (b 1844) daughter of Green Berry + Martha Ann Brown Hambri ck: Aunt Nanny, a small dark haired woman, resembled her mother, she wa s gentle and loving, never said an unkind word about anyone. She smo ked an Irish clay pipe, wore gray calico print dresses, and black cot ton sateen aprons, as a small child I said "Aunt Nanny when you die m ay I have your silk aprons?" she said yes,--and why not?--Several years earlier she gave her sea l skin cape to my mother to make into a coat for me. !I spent many happy hours in Aunt Nanny's room in front of the firepl ace, she telling me stories or cutting paper dolls.
