Rodger grew up in Ft. Worth and began guitar lessons with his brother Steve when he was 10 years old. By the time he turned 13, Rodger had developed an interest in the bass guitar. In high school, he played the bass in a classic rock band with Matt Williams. Blues and Country and Western bands also figure into his musical history. Rodger enjoys blending his voice with the other Blarney Brothers in harmony rather than taking the lead vocals on a song. Additionally, he lends his keyboard playing to a few of the songs in the current play list. He has also exercised his songwriting abilities by collaborating with Micheal Price on the eerie "Ned's Chanty." In spite of his other talents, it's his boogieing on the bass that adds the throb and bounce that Blarney fans love. Rodger is very active on stage and almost makes you want to dance along with him.
