The Gospel STAND
As the MC ascends the altar carrying the book, the acolytes and
thurifers walk to their positions for the Gospel as shown in Figure
XII. When the priests comes to the Gospel side of the altar to
begin the Gospel, the First Thurifer hands the thurible to the
MC.
The priest starts the Gospel with the following dialogue:
P) Dominus vobiscum.
S) Et cum spiritu tuo.
P) Sequentia sancti Evangelii . . . .
S) Gloria tibi, Domine.
Now the MC hands the thurible
to the priest who incenses the book. The priest then hands the
thurible back to the MC who then hands it to the First Thurifer.

When the priest finishes reading the Gospel, he kisses the book, and the servers say:
S) Laus tibi, Christe.
The servers then line up at the foot of the altar as shown in figure XIII, genuflect together with the priest, and walk to their chair positions as shown in Figure XIV, where they remain for the duration of the sermon.

The Sermon SIT
The servers immediately sit when they reach their chairs. The
priest walks to the lecturn and reads the Epistle in English.
After the Epistle, all servers stand as the priest begins to read
the Gospel in English. After the Gospel, all servers sit, while
the priest gives the sermon.
