Mass of the Faithful

The Credo STAND
At the conclusion of the homily, the priest returns to the foot of the altar where he is joined by the MC. The priest and the MC genuflect together, and the priest ascends the altar. All servers stand when the priest chants the first line of the Credo, and the thurifers go to the sacristy to light a new charcoal.

P) Credo in unum Deum.

The choir then sings the remainder of the Credo, and the priest prays the remainder of the Credo himself. Mid way through the Credo, the priest genuflects at the mention of Christ's incarnation and all servers genuflect with him in unison.
When the priest finishes praying the Credo, he joins the MC at the foot of the altar, and both remain standing while the choir continues chanting the Credo. When the choir chants the same passage denoting Christ's incarnation, as given below, all servers kneel with the priest:

Choir) et incarnatus est de Spiritu Sancto ex Maria Virgine,et homo factus est.

All rise at the conclusion of this solemn passage, and the priest and MC genuflect. They then walk to their same positions as shown in Figure IX, and the priest sits while the choir finishes chanting the Credo. As the priest begins to sit down, the acolytes again drape the back of his chasuble over the back of his chair. Then all servers sit down except the MC.

The Offertory STAND
At the conclusion of the Credo, the priest comes to the foot of the altar with the MC where they genuflect, and the thurifers bring out the thurible. The priest ascends the altar, kisses the altar, and all servers stand as he turns to the people to say:

P) Dominus vobiscum.
S) Et cum spiritu tuo.
P) Oremus.

The priest then turns toward the altar and reads the Offertory verse. When he finishes, the priest uncovers the chalice and hands the chalice veil to the MC, who folds it and places it on the Epistle side of the altar.
As soon as the priest uncovers the chalice, the acolytes go to the credence table to pick up the water and wine cruets, and the Second Turifer goes to the credence table to pick up the incense. The acolytes ascend the step, standing to the right of the altar waiting for the priest, and the thurifers stand at their positions as shown in Figure XV. The MC descends the altar and stands toward the right side near the thurifers.

Figure XV

The First Acolyte assists the priest with wine for the chalice, and the Second Acolyte assists him with water for the chalice. The acolytes return to the credence table, and the thurifers ascend the altar to assist in incensing the altar the second time (see Figure V). As before, the Second Thurifer hands the incense to the MC who gives it to the priest. The priest places incense in the thurible held by the First Thurifer. After the First Acolyte sets down the wine cruet on the credence table, he goes to the foot of the altar, genuflects, goes to the Gospel side of the altar, and picks up the book in preparation for the incensing. Then the priest, the MC and the First Thurifer incense the altar from right to left and back again as shown in Figure XVI.

Figure XVI

After the priest has incensed the altar, the MC incenses the priest standing in the same position depicted in Figure VII. Then the MC hands the thurible to the First Thurifer and walks with both thurifers to the center of the foot of the altar, where all three genuflect. The MC ascends the altar standing to the left of center facing the thurifers. The First Thurifer then incenses the MC. The torche bearers then stand, and the First Thurifer incenses them. While this is taking place, the First Acolyte assists the priest with the finger towel, and the Second Acolyte assists the priest with the finger bowl as illustrated in Figure XVII.
