PayIT

I've been using a service called Checkfree to pay my bills electronically for years now. I'm one who will try to find a way to do everything with the computer, I'm a self admitted geek, for sure. Checkfree just raised their rates $3.00 a month. I can't always justify these expenses to myself when I'm unemployed. I actually enjoy financial planning and all things accounting. Combining that pleasure with my computer pleasure is just an unbeatable high for me, so I decided to try to find an alternative to Checkfree rather than start using paper checks and going to the post office.

Come to find out, my Credit Union offers a banking service called PayIT. It is somewhat hokey in comparison to Checkfree and I have to export from PayIT and import into Quicken, but . . .it sure is a lot less expensive. With PayIT, I can access my bank accounts 24/7 to check balances or see if/when something cleared the account. Of course, I'm trying to set it up without reading the manual, as usual, so I accidently sent a payment to a credit card company that didn't need a payment. I'm just glad it was a small amount so I didn't have to figure out how to stop payment.
