Fifteen minutes of fame

Jason's name was in the paper last Friday! There is an article on page 6b called, "Winners of CFB-ISD fine arts competition 'Reflections'. There he is Literature Short Story. Reflections of Excellence (the highest award), Jason Gold. He said he showed the paper to his theatre teacher and she looked as proud of him as I did. I asked him what she said. His answer, "Take that gum out of your mouth".

Had a job interview this morning. It felt like a place I definitely DON'T want to work for. I left, though, expecting to hear from them by the time I got home. Sure enough, there was a message with the answering service. They offered me an 'hourly' job at $25.00 and hour with NO benefits for a 6 month contract. Thanks but no thanks. I know I shouldn't be picky, but . .

I'm wanting to watch the end of the Stephen King TV special tonight. It looked pretty lame from watching the second part (of a three part series). Perhaps it would have been more interesting had I seen the first part. I've been sort of mad at Stephen King for years now, anyway. I haven't forgiven him for some of his imagery in Pet Semetary - well written, but way out of line.

Tonight, for dinner, I displayed the effects of daytime TV. Yeah, I can agree with the dough boy, the smell of bread baking is a WONDERFUL thing. Just pop it open like a thing of biscuits and bake. I can do that. (I gave up scratch bread making years ago. I get so TIRED wrestling with the dough). It certainly did smell great.

We also had some frozen thing called Chicken Voila! The commercial said it would be ready in 7 minutes! Just dump it in a skillet and Voila!, a yummy dinner. It took me considerably longer to prepare it because I turned on a different burner than the one under the skillet, but I eventually got it on the table.

Jason took a lot of magic out of the home baked bread with his comments about canned bread, but when he ate the Voila!, he said, "This is really GOOD!", so . . he is forgiven.

It is always nice to be appreciated for slaving away over a hot stove.
