A Journal of Sorts |
19 February 1999Mystery ErrorI've just about adapted to keeping a journal electronically, but I haven't adapted to the on-line part of it. In my paper journals, I will often write several times a day. It feels natural to pick up a pen and a journal at any time and just start writing. Although I can always just come in here and click my journal icon and just start writing, I'm always faced with the question. . should I put ALL of my ramblings on the Internet? Some of this stuff is personal and how many times a day should I update the same web page? Daniel already told me that if I start publishing my sex life, he is going to stop sending his friends to my website.I had a good time with Daniel on ICQ last night. For some reason (I think because she is so cute when she is ranting about something), we like to pick on his friend, Katie. He was looking for 'I HATE MAC' material last night to make a new web page at his site for Katie. She, of course, is a MAC user. I think he will get more ranting out of it than I did when I published an 'in progress' web site of hers. Probably even more ranting than when I linked a dancing baby page off of hers - ah the beauty of keeping other folks web sites on your server. We were also puzzling over one of his pages. For some reason, whenever we load that page with Netscape, it will load so far and Netscape will just 'not be there any longer'. It doesn't give an error or anything; it just disappears the browser. It will load in IE. We found a few HTML boo boos and corrected them, but Netscape still won't handle the page. Interesting problem, for sure. I've been watching the birds today. Tom has the camera again. There are lots of grackles out there (boat tailed grackles to be exact). The red-winged blackbirds are back, along with a few females of the species. Starlings have started to congregate out there as well, and there are the usual mourning doves and sparrows. When the birds get startled and fly off, the doves just sit there. I suppose they want to make sure they really need to leave before they expend the energy to fly. |
