Rio Samba

The roses came today!!!!!! I'm excited in case you can't tell from all the exclamation points. I got two different bush types for either side of the back patio. Both of them are All America Rose Selections so they have a chance of growing here.

The one I'm going to put by the patio door is called Tropicana. It is a coral/vermilion rose. It is supposed to smell like raspberries and citrus of all things. The other one will go by the kitchen window. It is called Rio Samba. It has yellow and orange-splashed petals and is supposed to smell like a rose. I'm excited.

They came with a Pocket Guide to Growing Roses booklet. It says to soak the roots (they came bare rooted) in a bucket of lukewarm water with bleach in it in order to rehydrate them. It says to dig a hole 24" wide and 18" deep and fill the hole with water. The water should drain in an hour. If it doesn't. . I need to dig deeper and improve the drainage. I wonder how you improve drainage????

I don't remember any dreams and didn't get any Tom-reports of sleep shenanigans, so I guess that was the end of my dream-mirth for awhile. He did say that at one point, I told him to get off of my hair.
