A Journal of Sorts |
Saturday, 6 March 1999HotDogI've decided to start writing my journal entries in an HTML editor called HotDog Professional by Sausage Software. I like it because when you start it up, it displays a green dog that waves his arm and says WOOF. I'm so easily amused.I've avoided these web design tools in the past because looking at the GUI and dragging and dropping sections of text and graphics makes me crazy. I want to work with the code so I can see what it is doing. HotDog is a full featured design tool with all the bells and whistles, but I can type in an editor and insert my tags and tables as I see fit, not how the program interprets what it thinks I want to do. Of course, if I ever decide to do anything too fancy, I just might NEED the other kind. hah Anyway, I'm going to try this for awhile. I can have another window open that will show me the browser view as I work and it has references where I can look up tags and see what attributes go with what. I even have a tag list that makes me wonder what XMP or SUP does. If I get really curious, I can look it up in the built in reference. So far, though, I seem to be content with my simple paragraph and heading and break tags. I planted the roses today. I dug the holes a little bigger and filled them with new soil. I went to Lowe's to get some manure and found some soil that said it was especially formulated for roses, so I got it. I'm sure that improved the drainage SOME. Too bad we can't afford to replace the backyard. *smile* I managed to save a perfect square of sod (mostly St. Augustine) for Tom to plant around the yard where he killed the weeds. I priced sod while I was at Lowe's and it was over $4.00 a square. Tom used the dirt out of my holes to fill in some low places along the fence. While we were sitting out on the back patio, I was very proud when the neighbor across the alley shouted to us, "your yard is looking good!" |
