How do you turn on the mouse?

The first crocusSome of the crocus have finally started blooming. I expected them to be one of the first things to add color to the early spring, but they weren't. The daffodils are about gone, just a few stragglers blooming. The grape hyacinths are fading as are the narcissus. I still have tulips and hyacinths that are just breaking ground or budding out; although one of the hyacinths is in full bloom, the other's are just budding.

The first hyacinthTom took the photos for me. It looks like my bulbs all have chrysanthemum leaves. That is because they are planted in containers with mums. I don't know what the mums think they are doing getting so bushy so early in the year. I think that the security light from the neighbor across the street might have something to do with it. I read that mums shouldn't be planted where there are night lights because they get confused and won't bloom. Soon, I'll be moving the pots to the back patio. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to transplant the mums to the mum garden with the rest of them or not. The mum bed has all white mums in it now - from our wedding. I don't remember what color the ones in the big pot are(other than not white -- lavender perhaps), but the little pot has yellow ones.

March 15 is the official average last freeze date in this area. There was about a quarter of an inch of ice in the birdbath this morning -- perhaps I won't see any more ice until November or December.

We live near DFW airport. Most nights when we are sitting out on the back patio, there are 15 or 20 planes in various landing patterns circling around. One early evening, I noticed that the stars were starting to twinkle in the twilight (hey, I like that, twinkling twilight) and commented to Tom, "Hey, look! There are stars in our airplanes!" We had a good laugh over it. Now, Tom has put that on the entry page at his web site. When you mouse over the picture of him and me gazing at the stars with my head on his shoulder the alt says, "honey, look, there are stars in our planes". Cute, isn't it?

I talked with my wife-in-law, Lois this morning. She wants me to help her become computer literate, so I go over there from time to time for little training sessions. Between sessions, she calls me with her burning questions. The other day it was, "How do I turn on the mouse?" This morning, she wanted to tell me that she had ordered a book, _______ for Dummies. She's very proud of herself. Her question for the day was, "How do I know when I need to install new software?"

Angst might be the most overused word in on-line journals today.
