Sublord of skinny dipping

Today, I received a new title on the jellyfish list. The results of a reader survey seemed to indicate that I deserved to be dubbed sublord of tequila shots and skinny dipping. I've never been the sublord of anything before, so I ~think~ I'm impressed. *smile*

Doing shots certainly can be fun. I first learned to do shots when Alex's (a friend from college) grandparents migrated to the US from Russia. I got invited to the combination welcome grandfolks and Alex's birthday celebration at his parent's house. During dinner, everyone got shots of Stoli's (although Absolut is also good swilling vodka). In turn, each person (except me) stood up and said something long and drawn out in Russian. Then, we would all do the shot and refill for the next Russian speech.

Swilling vodka became a tradition among my core group of friends -- especially during those group projects that the prof's were so thrilled with. We'd gather for those all-nighters with a new bottle in the freezer and be really glad in the morning that we car-pooled with a non-drinker. It was tough, about the third class of the day whenever we started crashing, though.

Needless to say, my son-in-law was happy to find that his mother-in-law enjoyed swilling. It has become a Thanksgiving tradition -- he and I do tequila shots while my daughter and parents look on with obvious disapproval.

There are few things finer in life than a moonlit skinny dip. I love the magic of the night, the sounds of the frogs, the motion of the black water. It is also a good way to keep the mosquitos off, at least while you are underwater. Of course, there is always something that comes up and nibbles on you in strange places when skinny dipping. Some nibbles are more friendly than others. *smile*

I made a quick stop at the library today to pick up a book on Java Script. Sure enough, they didn't have such a thing at our little neighborhood library. I'll have to plan a trip to the real library. Darn it.
