I would like to be a free artist and nothing else, and I regret God has not given me the strength to be one.

Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo marks the 1862 defeat of the French army by the Mexicans (and Americans) in the Battle of Puebla. It is not, as many think, the Mexican Independence Day, nor is it an American holiday.
As Texas has a rich Hispanic culture, local celebrations abound -- fairs, parades, singing, dancing, and food. Oh, and margaritas. It is a party that celebrates freedom and liberty.
Viva! el Cinco de Mayo!! I should celebrate by learning to make tortillas.

I asked for feedback and I got feedback. (Keep it coming!!) A suggestion to put family and friends in the sidebar. (That one came from Teresa and she specified all except for HER, so watch this spot for pictures of Teresa, coming soon. *smile*) A suggestion to put notes on the music I'm listening to, the TV shows or movies I am watching, the books I'm reading . . another good one. So, don't be surprised if you see notes from One Life to Live or excerpts from The JavaScript Bible or Windows NT Server 4.0. Interesting stuff, no? I listen to music in the car during my morning errands. This morning, it was One horned, one eyed flying purple people eater. Look out sidebar; here I come!
I did get some feedback from Katie:
Hey Carole...You said you wanted feedback on your new journal layout,
so...
I think the gray lettering is a bit too hard to read, I'd either darken
it, or go back to the magenta you used before. The tan color of the
sidebar doesn't match your color scheme. Maybe you could make it a pale
green? However, I like the background pattern, and this month's the
picture of the roses.
Now, isn't she a good critic? Perfect form, following the "this sucks" part with the "that's good"? I'm impressed. I also darkened the font a little. But, I'm a little confused about the background color of the sidebar. It is supposed to be green already. I've gone around looking at it in all the browsers in the house (that would be five) and it looks green to me. (Katie, are you smoking something illegal?)
I very carefully and artistically brought out some of the colors in the floral background for the text area background colors, a trick I learned when I was in the drapery business and I would be really frustrated if everyone saw tan. Do YOU see tan?
