The green caterpillar

I've never seen such a huge or such a green caterpillar before.

Bug Bashing

Caterpillars are not slow. By the time I dashed into the house for the camera and ran back out again, I had a very hard time finding him. He had travelled nearly half way across the front yard. But, find him I did.

I was afraid one of the robins in the neighborhood and performed the robin ritual with him. He's a big guy, nearly as big as my finger and would have made good sport.

Especially, after Tom mows the yard, the robins congregate for the bugfest. As each tasty little grub worm or some other delectable bug emerges from hiding, the robins do a robin hip hop (did you know that some birds walk, some hop, but robins do both?), each trying to capture the prize.

Once the unsuspecting bug is firmly in its beak, the robin swoops up to a nearby tree branch and bashes it against a limb a couple of times before it tilts its head back and gobbles it down.

Anyway, my caterpillar made it across the front yard and into the garden by the house before I gave up my guard and left him to his own devices. There wasn't a robin in sight.

I swear.

Daniel made dinner for us tonight. It was a Mexican dish of some sort with rice and beans and chicken and peppers. He even served up some tortillas with it and set the table. I could certainly get used to this.

I've been asked to try my hand at some interviews for the diarist.net site. Have you ever looked at the EnterView pages? It looks easy enough.

Boy, who was I kidding? I had these great thoughts about getting all SORTS of journals (no pun intended) represented -- young people, not so young people, new journalists as well as the old-timers. What I didn't consider, though, was that I have to get someone to cooperate and I have to think up somewhat interesting questions. Neither task has proven to be easy.

I'm nervous about asking the old-timers (although many of them have already been done.) Some of the people I've approached haven't returned my e-mail yet -- others are willing to be interviewed, but don't have the time.

But I'm not giving it up yet. *smile* I'm not that smart. So, if any diarist who reads this hasn't already been through the interview thing and would consider doing the interview thing, please, by all means, let me know. I could save face that way. I'd even let you come up with the questions you want to answer.
