Getting Gas

My car has one of those little lever things on the floor between the driver's seat and the driver's door. Its purpose is to open the door to the gas tank so I can pump gas in there. Lately, it has been acting up. It hasn't been opening the door, just releasing it so that I have to get something (usually a quarter) to pry the door open when I need to tank up.

Having been running around town for several days now with the get gas light on, I decided I really, REALLY needed to fill up this morning and stopped at a station on my way to work. I pushed the little lever, got my quarter, got out and went back and started prying on the lid. Nothing. It wouldn't budge. I was getting to the point where I was actually worried about the paint when I decided that it just wasn't going to happen. At this point, I didn't know whether I should call Tom to come rescue me or try to make it through another day with no gas in the car so I (hopefully) wouldn't be late for work.

I chose the latter.

As I was getting in, though, I just had to

try flipping the lever another time or two. I could hear it releasing - I thought so anyway so I came up with another clever idea. I got my quarter, stood half way between the door and the gas thingie, stretched my foot over to the lever and pried on the gas lid at the same time and voila! it opened! I drive a van. It was NOT an easy stretch and I did get a bit of attention, but I sure felt much better driving around with gas in the van.

Work today was as horrible as it was yesterday, but I've done an excellent job of keeping my mouth shut this evening. I know Tom must have gotten WAY tired of my rants last night.

We had some nice time this evening. Tom watered the back yard while I was making dinner. I occasionally stepped out and kept him company. We did a backyard sit and tossed toys for Cricket and admired the sliver moon and some planet. Later, we did a front yard sit, bitched about the A/C and listened to crickets.
