air conditioner

Here's the sweet thing that made us poorer, but also made our lives bearable. I love air conditioning!

Tom's grandfather's wife passed away yesterday. Tomorrow, we will be going to Austin for her funeral.

I haven't been to a funeral since 1972. I swore off. I meant it. I didn't have a funeral for my son, Ron. I didn't go to my mother's funeral. But I'm going to this one. I think it will mean a lot to Tom and his parents if I do.

I spent more money on myself today than I have in a good long while. I don't have a problem spending money; it is just that I'm used to spending it on other people.

The department store dress code is business attire. I do have several suits, but they seem to be a bit smaller than they were when I put them away a couple of years ago. Must be the dry air or something. *smile*

Daniel and I grabbed a quick brunch in the food court of the mall and went our separate ways after doing a little browsing in his favorite (goth) shop, Hot Topics.

I did manage to find ONE suit that I liked. I also picked up some of my cologne and bath powder. Ciara is getting harder and harder to find as the years go by.

In order to make it to Carrie Lou's funeral, we had to make plans to leave the house before dawn, around 5:15AM. Since I was scheduled to work until 2:00AM that night, I decided to go ahead and quit my job.

I do not like telling people that I'm quitting. It makes me very squirmy, especially on such short notice.

I took the chicken's way out. Instead of waiting until the managers were in, I went in early and left a letter of resignation along with my security badge on his desk. Then, I gave another copy to the temp agency who assigned me.

I guess it was probably a good idea to have the weekend off before starting the department store job on Monday, if you can call going to Austin and back for a funeral a day off . . . .
