Halloween

There was a bit of confusion this morning when we got up about what time it was. Our computers, bless their souls (??) seemed to know that it was the end of daylight savings time -- a fact that neither Tom nor I had completely straight in our minds. The rest of the clocks in the house had a different time and a comment from Tom that Daniel had changed the clocks left me completely confused until I just decided to trust the computers.

Jason was up fairly early with the remote control to the television glued to his hand. Daniel, after being out partying until (I don't know what time), got up a bit later. Tom and I managed to get through two pots of coffee before expending any energy toward getting productive for the day.

Tom and I went out and explored a stone yard early this afternoon. Both of us like stone and there were certainly a lot of good landscaping ideas to be seen there. The man who owned the place had surrounded his building with mock yards, stone terraces and planters, fountains and statues. I'd love to have some of those boulders he had laying around although I have no idea how we would get them here.

Next door was a nursery and a pumpkin patch. We grabbed three pumpkins out of the few that were left and brought them home for some loving carving.

The one on the left is Jason's vampire pumpkin. It was his first attempt and it looked like a miserable failure until it got dark and we put the candle in it. Tom's is the middle one. We had to have a traditional jack-o-lantern, didn't we? Daniel's is the one on the right, the lovely moon and stars with the cat. It is sort of magical don't you think?

I'm impressed with them, that's for sure. Notice, there isn't one there that I made. There is a reason for that . . I make sucky jack-o-lanterns.

Surprisingly, we had a good deal of traffic at our door this evening. Little witches and goblins and skeletons along with Barnies and ballerinas and fairies. Saw some really cute costumes. We only had one batch of loud mouthed, vulgar and crude teenagers, all girls. Daniel took off with them. I certainly HOPE his behavior rubbed off on them. I suppose it must have since they didn't get arrested.

Yesterday, I bought another of the Harry Potter books and I've been wanting to put my face in it, so I think I'm going to do that now.
