We've had this daisy for nearly two years. This is the first time
it has bloomed. Impressive, no?

Margaritaville
While at work, immersed up to my eyeballs in crisis (we had to take
down the mainframe in Columbus), I received some very nice e-mail.
It was from Tom with an invitation to
go out to dinner tonight! I didn't waste any time replying to that
one.
I hope we go somewhere that has good margaritas. *smile*

The weather here has been too good to be true. Even for Texas
it is unusual to be having all these days in the 80's this late
in the year . .normally we have a handful, but I think we've
broken some record that was set in 1923. The roses seem to love
the cooler weather and are budding out like crazy. I hope they
have an opportunity to burst into full bloom before we get a
good frost.
We finally put our bulbs back in the ground last weekend. The silly
things are confused and are growing big time. Already they are
taller than the pansies (which are, of course, gorgeous). The bulbs
in the pots are behaving . I dug around in the mums, the violas and
the snapdragons and see no unruly bulbs. My grape hyacinths did that
last year, just started growing like they knew what they were doing.
They did, however, wait until the spring to bloom. I can live with
that.

I've gotten some disappointing news from my sister. She
was planning to make a short trip here late this week from
Jacksonville, FL . .but had to cancel. Her husband is a
Commander and lost two men over in the Gulf -- not a war thing,
an accident of some sort. In any event, she's not coming
and I'm disappointed.

Thanksgiving looks like it might turn out to be a good turnout.
Although Dede and her family
nearly always come, it has been a number of years since her
brother, Chuck, has attended our gathering. That will bring us
up to eighteen for sure with a possible eight or so more. Should
be fun.

We went to our favorite neighborhood Mexican food place and
the margaritas were great!
