        Interesting Texas temperature facts

  • During 1969-70, Dalhart in the Texas Panhandle experienced the most days with a minimum temperature under 32 degrees at 153 days.

  • In 1962, Presidio in southwest Texas experienced the most days with a maximum temperature of 100 degrees or greater at 121 days.

  • Stratford is the coldest city in Texas with an annual average temperature of 55.0 degrees, while Mc Allen in the Valley is the hottest with an annual average temperature of 74.1 degrees.

  • Surprisingly, the city of Galveston located on the Gulf Coast experiences the lowest number of days in Texas reaching or exceeding 90 degrees per year with only 39. The next lowest city is Pampa - the second coldest city in Texas - with 64 days per year reaching 90 degrees.
