The Isaac W. Bump Family

Descendants of Edouad Bompasse of the Ship "Fortune"

Isaac W. Bump was the 5th great grandson of Edouad Bompasse. To see more information on Edouad Bompasse, or Edward Bumpus as he was known in America, click on his name at the top of this page. Some of Edouad and Hannah Bompasse's children married into the Mayflower lines.

Isaac was born February 18, 1834 in Columbus, OH. He was the son of Daniel Bump and Lucinda George. He married Catherine O'Connor July 16, 1857 in Mahaska County, IA. This is a picture of Isaac and Catherine. The parents of Catherine O'Connor were James O'Connor and Johanna Mulvihill. Isaac and Catherine are buried in the Ponca City IOOF Cemetery, Ponca City, OK. This is a picture of their headstone.

Isaac and Catherine had eleven children:

  1. Julius Edmund (1859-1932). Julius married Matilda Jane Barnard.
  2. Rinaldo R. (1860-1927). Rinaldo married Phoebe Alice Walden.
  3. Alice A. (1862-1863). She died very young.
  4. Milo A. (1864-1919). Milo married Flora A. Hart.
  5. Cornelia Rosalie (1866-1896). Cornelia married Charles Corbin Vittetoe.
  6. Eldora A. (1868-1870). She drowned in a well.
  7. Mary Phylinda (1870-1950). Mary married William Louis Wiggins.
  8. Della Lavonia (1873-1942). Della married Homer Beman.
  9. Florence M. (1875-1960). She never married.
  10. Fletcher Wilbur (1877-1959). Fletcher married Blanche Evaline Jarvis.
  11. Clarence Caswell (1880-1949). Clarence married Lillian Henderson.

Bump Family

The picture on the right is the Bump family together for the funeral of Isaac W. Bump. They gathered in Ponca City, OK. Isaac Bump was on a vacation in Colorado. Isaac and his son, Julius, were taking a trip to the mountains. On alighting from the buggy, Isaac fell and broke his hip. He died seven days later on July 26, 1910. Standing from left to right: Clarence, Fletcher, Milo, Rinaldo and Julius. Seated left to right: Mary (my great grandmother), Della, Florence, and Catherine (O'Connor) Bump.

Mary Phylinda Bump married William Louis Wiggins October 11, 1893 in Mahaska County, IA. William and Mary are buried in the Ponca City IOOF Cemetery, Ponca City, OK. This is a picture of their tombstone.
