
Trafalgar Square, London 1986, Many harmless snowflakes make a mighty river near the shore.
This was a march for Nelson Mandela's release from prison. It started in the morning and we spent at least 8 hours in file through dozens of neighborhoods and boroughs until that evening when the marchers emptied into a crowd in front of the South African Embassy ( The white building to the left). It was a fairly calm march until arriving at the embassy. You can imagine the noise in this picture.
John and Lucy will remember the flatmates who said it would never make a difference! A decade later he was president.
