See a spark jumping between balloons!
As with all static electricity demonstrations this works best when it is cold outdoors and warm and dry inside.
Materials:
Procdure:
Blow up and tie the balloons. The room must be completely dark. Rub the balloons back and forth against wool or cotton fabric such as clothing, a towel or blanket. Rub both balloons at the same time. Then bring the untied ends together so that they almost touch. You will see small flashes of light as the electricity jumps betweens the balloons and you will hear a faint crackle. You can do this over and over again.
