The great city of Tikal

There are thousands of ruins at the site and a long hike through the jungle is a walk through history. There are five tall temples under various stages of excavation. A typical feature among the structures is that they have narrow tunnels, arches, and wide staircases. This face was in a tunnel entrance and its twin is another forty feet inside in complete darkness. By staying in the park overnight you can hear all the calls of the wild and all day tourists can see a variety of animals that live there. On my last morning I went the top of the fifth temple to watch the sunrise.
