Sunday School News: Crossman Class:We had three present today. Leonard taught our lesson :Finding Life’s Meaning” from Ecclesiastes 1:1-9 & John 20: 19-23. The disciples were able to find meaning for themselves when Jesus appeared to them saying, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you”. Then, “he breathed on them” and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained”. We missed Ruth, Marian, Vivian, the Hinds & Medlin’s and hope and pray they can join us in class soon. Friendship Class: Helen led our eight members in song and prayer. Winnie's devotional, "The Power of a Minute," was an encouragement and "How To" in minute prayers. The scripture was taken from Luke 18:1. And, the short little poem, "Just a Little Prayer," made one feel both joy and peace. Eleanore continued the study of Revelation with the seven angels standing before God and they were given seven trumpets that each would blow to herald a very significant event. We completed the study through the fifth angel and will begin with the sixth next week. Our SPOW is Nettie Mae. T H E Class: What a great group we had; 9 of us in class, and what a good discussion we had as we studied the 7th chapter of John, learning about the Feast of the tabernacles, and Jesus teaching in the temple. We'll continue our study next week, so join us for the rest of the chapter and see what's in store for us in the Word. We missed Bro. Mike, but he was leading the pastor's class for our baptismal candidates and their special service on our church's 65th birthday on the first Sunday in June. Praise the Lord! |

Minister’s Page For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2 As we face comings and goings in our personal lives and as changes take place in our church life, let us strive to keep to the basics. Pare away all non-essentials. "Simplify, simplify," wrote Henry David Thoreau. I think that is the true wisdom, to know what is the heart of the matter in our relationships with others and our fellowship with and worship of God. Most of us have reached an age where we don't need more stuff, but probably are still learning how to appreciate and utilize properly the important things we do have. From a religious perspective, the Lord still leads us, still is with us. Every day, know the joy and comfort of his presence, and use that assurance as we go forth giving thanks and helping others in his name.
