Park was due to pick up OJ (first time ever) at 10:45, arrived early at 10:25. He came up Rockingham, turned right on Ashford. Parked on side of street opposite OJ's Ashford gate, at 10:25.
He got out of the car, sat on the curb, and smoked a cigarette. He could see the driveway in front of OJ's house only. He got into the car at 10:30, drove around to the Rockingham gate (stopped on right side of street opposite the gate). (Told Marcia Clark he didn't see any car (Bronco) parked on Rockingham, 10:35 or so.) Decided he couldn't pull in there, backed up, went back on Ashford, pulled up to OJ's Ashford gate. He could see to "the garage area" or the corner of the garage, closest to the front door, but couldn't see the driveway going out to the Rockingham gate. He said there was a light hanging from the garage roof area, which lit only about a ten foot radius in front of the garage. He also said when he pulled up to the gate, the porch was fairly well lit, but the rest of the house was dark and the driveway was dark.
He waited until 10:40, then got out of the limo, rang the "bell" several times, got no answer. He got into the car, called his boss between 10:50 to 10:55. He told his boss, Dale St. John, that OJ "... is not at home, he's not answering, no lights downstairs, one light upstairs." He was sitting in the car as they talked, looking at the front door and driveway area, his headlights off and parking lights on. As he was talking to St. John, he saw a white male "come out" from the back yard area, Ashford Street side. This person was blonde, shoulder-length hair, carrying a flashlight; this person stood there just before he got to the driveway, and waved at Park.
Within seconds, or almost simultaneously, Park saw a black male, 6'1", 200 lbs, come from an area (marked on an exhibit) on the driveway, and proceeded to the front door. He was not running, but moving quickly. (The two persons did not speak to each other --as far as anyone knows, including Park, they didn't see each other.) The black male was wearing "dark clothes", pants and a shirt, the only description Park could give. It was between 10:55 and 11:00.
Within 30 seconds after seeing the black male, Park hung up the phone. He waited, but the white male did not open the gate. As soon as the black male went inside the front door, "some" lights came on downstairs. He got out, rang the "bell" again, and OJ answered (he recognized his voice). OJ said: "Sorry, I overslept and I just got out of the shower. I will be down in a minute."
The white male had paused a minute on the side path by the gate. He then came over and opened the gate. Park pulled in, stopped in front of the front door. He saw two black duffel bags on the "front walk." (He also saw one other bag towards the Rockingham entrance "behind the Rolls Royce." He identified the location of the "dark bag" on the diagram as "B", and the Rolls as "R".) Park opened the trunk from inside the car, then got out. The white male asked how long he had been ringing the bell at the gate and he said about 15 minutes.
Within five minutes after he spoke with OJ on the intercom, OJ came outside ready to go. OJ was wearing a white, collared shirt, short sleeves, light stonewashed jeans, and Park didn't notice his shoes.
Park asked OJ if he wanted the duffel bags in the car, and OJ said to put them inside the limo. Park started loading the duffel bags, while the white male was talking to him about an earthquake and a flashlight. OJ said, "Oh, we had an earthquake?" Park put another bag in the trunk that OJ had brought out from the house, a Gucci bag, which looked like a garment bag. During that time, the white male offered to go get the bag near the Rolls, and OJ said, "No, no. That's okay. I can get it. That's all right."
Park said OJ put that bag into the trunk before he stepped into the house with the white male. Park also said OJ got that bag while Park was still loading bags, "and he also made another trip to get his golf bag from one of the vehicles. I didn't see which one he got it out of." (NOTE: "one of the vehicles.")
OJ and the white male briefly went inside the house; they were just standing inside the entrance way, and Park couldn't hear what they were saying, he was standing by the car. OJ came back out and said, "We have got to go." Park closed the trunk and was ready to go. Park said that when they (white male and OJ) were talking about the earthquake, OJ told the white male, "You go one way, and I'll go the other way." When Park heard that, he figured if there was trouble, he would walk around the house with them. The white male walked over to the corner of the garage, and OJ didn't follow him. He came over to the back of the car and said "We have to go" and jumped in.
Park estimated they left at 11:15 p.m. He exited through the Rockingham gate. When he pulled out of the gate, Park said, "There was a vehicle to my left." "When I was exiting, I noticed I had to look around a vehicle [on his left]. I never noticed what kind of vehicle it was. I didn't pay any attention to that." They arrived at the airport at about 11:35.
The weather was mild, a little warm. In the car Simpson repeated a few times, "Whew, man I'm hot." Park didn't know if OJ was sweating, but OJ turned on the air conditioning and had the window down. OJ said, "I know I forgot something." He was going through his bags, but Park did not hear OJ unzip the bags. Park said, "I figured it was the two black bags that were inside." (one of the duffel bags was unzipped when he pulled up in front of the door.)
Park shook hands with OJ at some time (probably at the airport) and did not notice any bandages or band-aids.
At the airport, American Airlines, Park got out, opened OJ's door, then the trunk. He pulled out the Gucci bag. OJ asked him to get a sky cap but they were all busy so he went inside the entrance and got a luggage cart. He put the golf bag and then the Gucci bag on the cart and walked with OJ to the sky cap to check in. OJ gave him some money and said "Add 20 percent to the bill."
NOTES:
There were two black duffel bags on the porch when Park drove inside. OJ came out with a Gucci garment bag. Park put the two duffel bags inside the limo (not the trunk), and he put the Gucci bag in the trunk. And we presume the golf bag in the trunk. OJ got the other "dark bag" near the Rolls, and put it in the trunk.
At the airport, Park took the Gucci bag out of the trunk, and put it and the golf bag on the luggage cart. We must assume OJ unloaded the two duffel bags from inside the limo. No mention of the "dark bag."
