Family Photos

John DeWitt Bowers & Family
by Robert Strong

After his release from prison in 1901, Dee Bowers and his family moved to mexico, where he worked as a mechanical engineer for a mining company -- skills which he apparently acquired in prison.  This photo was taken in 1905, which was after the family had returned to Choctaw Nation, I.T. (LeFlore Co., OK) and just before they moved to Arizona where he would work for another mining company at Poland, Yavapai County.  Pictured with Dee and his wife, 'Lith, are their daughters Pearl (the tallest), Edna (standing in front of Pearl), and Ruby (on Dee's lap), and their son, Polk(on 'Lith's lap).
