Savvy In Concert

Savvy was a bit of a phenomenon. At a time in music history when Dallas was busting out with talented bands, and rock clubs were thriving, a little known band from Ft. Worth came out of nowhere and stole the limelight for over four years.

While other local bands had huge, impressive stage sets, complete with semi rigs to haul their equipment, we were cramming a mix and matched, Heinz 57 collection of amps and cabinets into our drummer's van. To Savvy, it wasn't HOW we got there, but what we did once we ARRIVED.

Savvy was a true party band. That feeling crossed over into our concerts. I feel a lot of that spirit and drive came from being a house band for so long and having to come out each night energized as if it were the first time, every time. We had to come up with ways to keep our regulars interested.

It was fun being a local celebrity for those few years. But all good things must end. After Ricky left in September of '83, we reorganized as a five piece band, and fared ok until we ran out of gas on April 18, 1985.
