Welcome to Saint John the Apostle parish!
Our parish has been serving the north east portion of Tarrant County for almost forty years. We are located approximately fifteen minutes west of the Dallas Fort Worth Airport and just a couple of minutes west of North East Mall (see map). Almost four thousand people a weekend come together at St. John's to celebrate God's presence in our community. Although we are one of the largest Catholic parishes in the Fort Worth diocese, we are confident that you will find it easy to become part of our parish family. One of the many things that makes Saint John's special is the high level of community involvement in the parish. Without the many parish members that freely share their time and talent, we simply could not get all the work done that is necessary for ministering to both the parish family and the surrounding community.
If you have been searching for a parish to call home, please come by and visit us. We are always in need of help in a variety of areas and want every member of the parish to know that they are an important part of our family.
A Brief History of Our Parish
The origin of St. John's began almost forty years ago. It was formed by many Catholic families living in Richland Hills, North Richland Hills, Hurst, Bedford, Euless, Colleyville, Smithfields, and Watauga, together with families from locations adjacent to some of these areas. The families had attended St. George's parish in Riverside for years. Many of the children also attended St. George's Catholic school. On August 15, 1964 Msgr. William McCoey, our first pastor, celebrated St. John's first mass.
Thank you to Tom Wertz, and our dearly departed Hulda Littlefield and Mo Jutzi, for providing the information needed for the Brief History of Our Parish.
