Hugo Awards (Science Fiction Achievement Awards) are presented for work in the field of science fiction or fantasy by the members of the World Science Fiction Society every year at the World Science Fiction Convention.

A Professional Artist is an illustrator whose work has appeared in a professional publication in the field of science fiction or fantasy. The Professional Artist Hugo category is the one category currently designated for professional artists. Past categories have included Interior Illustrator, Cover Artist, New Author or Artist, Artist, Outstanding Artist, and Original Artwork.
