Television certainly brings some interesting people together, doesn't it? For instance, here we have a nice portrait of Moondoggie and Amanda Woodward. Well, not really. Actually, this is a 1983 publicity shot for T. J. Hooker, a police drama TV series that ran on ABC from 1982 to 1986. Obviously this was decades after James Darren played Moondoggie in the Gidget movies and a number of years before Heather Locklear got really tough as Amanda Woodward on Melrose Place, which, incidentally, featured guest-star James Darren in a few of the final episodes. At any rate, we happen to be huge fans of both of these performers and we're certain that T. J. Hooker must have been the epitome of must-see TV back in the mid-1980s, although we've never actually seen an episode of this program. Come to think of it, we've never even met anybody who's seen an episode of this program. But we hasten to make amends for our cultural illiteracy by stating that we do get all blissed-out at the mere mention of Gidget movies and we consider Melrose Place on a par with Erich von Stroheim's Greed. Well, that's not exactly true either. We actually prefer Melrose Place to Erich von Stroheim's Greed.

Hey -- how about a remake of Greed with James Darren as McTeague and Heather Locklear as Trina? It wouldn't have to be nine hours long and 70 years from now nobody would get all that uptight about parts of it being missing.
