The Gauldalen Valley at Horg

The photo of the family farm included in these pages was taken from the road to the north of the farm near Bekkerakeren. The two farm houses seen in the photo are denoted by rectangles at the Midtlyngen site. A stream Lynga runs through the property. Note the twin peaks of 310 and 318 feet elevation that overlook Horg. These are a landmark of the area. The river is running in the Gauldalen Valley toward the North and top of the page as it moves from the mountains near the Swedish border to near sea level at Trondheim. The river is at about 70 feet elevation with the walls of the valley at greater than 300 feet elevation. A link to a nice aerial view of another valley, Surnadal, gives a perspective of the topography in these glacial valleys.
