The Gloria STAND
All servers stand as the priest chants the first line of the Gloria
at the center of the altar. (There is no Gloria when the priest's
vestments are black or violet.)
P) Gloria in excelsis Deo.
The choir then sings the
remainder of the Gloria, the priest prays the remainder of the
Gloria himself, and the thurifers move to their chairs but do
not sit down. When he is finished praying the Gloria, the priest
comes to the foot of the altar and genuflects with the MC in order
to sit while the choir sings.
As the priest begins to sit down, the acolytes drape the back
of his chasuble over the back of his chair. Then all servers sit
down except the MC, as depicted in Figure IX.
See Figure IX

The Collect STAND
When the priest goes back to the altar at the end of the Gloria,
all servers stand. The priest then turns to the people to say
"Dominus vobiscum." Then he moves to the Epistle side
of the altar, and reads the collect.
P) Dominus Vobiscum.
S) Et cum Spiritu tuo.
P) Oremus. . . .
The Epistle SIT
The priest then reads the Epistle without changing position. When
he is finished reading the Epistle, he places his left hand on
the altar, and the servers respond by saying:
S) Deo gratias.
The Gradual
While the priest prays the Gradual immediately after the Epistle,
the thurifers fetch the thurible and the incense and ascend the
altar. At the same time, the acolytes fetch the candles and walk
to their positions set back from the foot of the altar as shown
in Figure X. When the gradual is finished, the Second Thurifer
hands the incense to the MC. The priest places incense into the
thurible, and the MC hands the incense back to the Second Thurifer.

The thurifers then position themselves in a straignt line with the acolytes at the foot of the altar as shown in figure XI. The MC picks up the book from the Epistle side of the altar, comes to the center of the foot of the altar where all servers genuflect in unison, and ascends the altar with the book, placing it on the Gospel side (left side) of the altar. The MC then stands slightly to the left of the altar waiting for the Gospel.
